Cost of Receiving Texts Abroad

Is there a cost to receive text messages abroad (eg in Australia, outside the 50+ countries that are included)? Many thanks. MLS

Viewing SMS over wi-fi?

Is there any way to access text messages via WiFi, rather than over a mobile network? I am in Australia and have kept my phone in flight mode to avoid receiving international calls while I'm here. However, I now need to receive a text message, but don't really want to come out of flight mode. Any advice, please? Thanks. MLS
