ID Mobile only offer 1 year warranty on Pixel 3XL. Google confirm its actually 2 years

So today I brought my phone into Carphone Warehouse for a warranty repair. The phone is a Google Pixel 3XL and is 17 months old. The guy at the counter kindly informed.me that the warranty period for Google phones is 1 year. I showed him the Google support website showing that all Google products have a 2 year warranty. No surprise that there was nothing he could do.I have since contacted Google support and they have kindly informed.me that I am correct, the warranty period is 2 years. To have it repaired though I need to provide proof of purchase. After a 40 minute wait and several bots later, I got through to a human on ID chat who asked me to email 2 forms of ID before they'd look into a proof of purchase request.Why can't ID mobile just honour the correct warranty? Also what is wrong with having a phone number or at very least an email address for customer services?Here to 7 more months of ID mobile before I switch to a network run by humans and not bots.

Where to get a phone repaired during lockdown

The microphone on my Pixel 3A XL has stopped working. Its only 18 months old, and so still in its warranty period. I’ve tried contacting iD Mobile through their live chat, but they don’t seem to actually employ anybody, just bots. I’ve searched online and this is a common problem with this device. I’ve done a factory reset to see of that worked, but no use. I’d normally take it to a Carphone Warehouse for assessment and repair, but as they’re closed, where can I send it to for repair?
