If I change my plan, will I still be able to upgrade?

I am currently eligible for an upgrade, but don't want to deal with choosing a new handset at the moment.
If I change my plan to a cheaper one for now, will I still be able to upgrade whenever I decide I do want a new handset?

Hello @pelides,

I see no reason why you would not be able to upgrade following a plan change.

The only limitations for a plan change are:

How do I know if I’m eligible to change my plan?

Here are the only reasons you WON'T be eligible to change plan:

• You've been with us less than 30 days.

• You've changed plans in the last 31 days.

• You don't have an active Direct Debit with us.

• You've got a disconnection request pending.

Are you currently on a handset plan or a SIM-only?
You can look at upgrading to a SIM-only plan if you're currently on a handset contract.
This would just move you over to a SIM-only deal so you're not paying for the handset anymore as the contract has ended.

Then when you're ready, you can upgrade to a new handset.

Please note, in some rare cases, upgrading to a SIM-only plan prevents you from upgrading to a handset for 6 months. It's easily corrected by resetting your upgrade date and you can just message us here if you have this problem and we'll get it fixed.
