I'm confused as to how & when I'll settle out-of-plan charges for data. Are they part of my cap/monthly bill or are they charged as a lump sum when I leave my contract ?

If you are a pay monthly customer, your out-of-plan charges will show on your monthly bill.
You can check your charges via the iD Mobile App or on your account online.
If you wish to change your cap so you can limit the charges, you can do so via your account also.
