Sleep and exercise 💕

To relax best depends on who you are! Everybody is different. I like to think of relaxation as a scale. Some people find physical activities a good way to relax. For example Yoga or Tennis. A light jog in the countryside, maybe.

Whereas others prefer ultimate relaxation. Like lying in a hot bath and listening to calming music. Ultimate zen. That’s all fantastic and sounds very relaxing. But, not all of us can switch off as easily as that. Some people’s minds always like to find a way to be active. Even in times of relaxation.  Some people’s minds like to switch off, but they’re bodies don’t! And some people’s bodies and minds love to always at least be doing something. So, here’s why I have created an inclusive list below of all the different types of people and what way of relaxation best suits that person!

  1. Very active individuals who’s minds and bodies do not switch off. - You may hear of ways that people relax. Like, “Lying in a hot bath with sliced cucumber on my eyes. Listening to zen music.” or “Bathing under the sun and listening to music” and you may think ‘Wow. That does sound very relaxing.’ Only to attempt it yourself and not feel relaxed at all. That’s fine! Your body doesn’t like to be motionless and your mind doesn’t switch off. Your method of relaxation may not be the typical definition that people associate relaxation to be. Do not force yourself to be that way. Come to terms with the fact you are a person whose body and mind don’t relax that way. Do physical things that require some brain power.

  • Go for a light jog/walk in the countryside. While doing this, allow your brain to do what it wants. To think. Do not force your mind to be thoughtless if it does not want to be. Think about things that don’t stress you. Think about unserious things. Small ideas you have. What that big vertical pole over there in that field would be for. Try not to use GPS as you walk. Your brain wants to be active, which means it wants to be independent and not rely on GPS to remember where you are. This can make it a small and fun task to find your way back home.
  • Play tennis or a racquet sport. But only for rallies against a buddy. Nothing competitive!

2. Your body likes to relax, but your mind doesn’t! For people that are this way, gaming is a great way to keep the body relaxed but the mind switched on. If you’re not a gamer, find a series to get gripped by. Start writing a book or creating something. Maybe you’re a musician. Write songs or learn a new song. There are plenty of activities out there that require brain power, but not physical body power.

3. Your mind likes to switch off but your body doesn’t. You might find the feeling of sitting still quite…painful almost. You get fidgety too. Do some light exercise! When you go out for a walk or light jog, allow your mind to almost switch off. But not fully! As there are dangers out there. Keep focused on the road. Do some home exercise while listening to music. This could be callisthenics, weights or yoga. Or if you like gaming/watching series, get a treadmill and a standing desk! You can game or watch away while on the move.

4. Your body and mind love to just totally switch off when relaxing. Well, you guys are the lucky ones! For you, ultimate relaxation is easy. Get yourself nice and comfortable and nap. Make yourself a nice bath and lie motionless in it. Sit outside in the garden with a nice beverage. Whether in the evening or daytime.

I hope this helps everyone and happy relaxing! ❤️

My best tip for relaxation is to put some heavy metal on your sound system,  get a hair brush and sing into it standing in front of the mirror.  I have found doing this a couple of times a week for about 30 mins blows the cobwebs out and leaves you feeling relaxed and energised and ready to take on the world!

. I use to work in a school as a Lego teacher. The children loved building and explaining their builds. When a child was Struggling with their emotions, Lego calmed them. Now I’m retired I still love Lego. My happy place is in my spare room (Lego room) Sorting Lego, researching pieces, building, buying and selling. Do what makes you happy, even if it’s just for  a few minutes a day..

When you’re feeling overwhelmed try to break things down to take the pressure off. One hour at a time, everything in stages. Break large tasks down by doing a section at a time rather than focusing on everything as a whole, just one thing at a time and you will be surprised by how much more you can achieve.

My best way to relax is to put on music or an audiobook and start walking. Get them steps in while been in your own world no cares at all.

Roll a fat one, lie in a hammock in a forest alone for 1 hour minimum and turn phone off  and your mind WILL relax.

To maintain relaxation and mindfulness, I practice deep breathing exercises and guided meditation daily. Nature walks and evening journaling also help me stay calm and focused, promoting a positive mindset and peaceful sleep.

Spending time with my beautiful grandkids. As exhausting as it is at the time it is all worth it for the feeling of love and purity that grand kids radiate. My heart soul and mind feel totally cleansed, refreshed and full of joy.

There's nothing more relaxing to me than sitting down on the sofa after we've eaten tea, getting my knitting out, watching a movie with our little Jackchi curled up between us snoring. Or having breakfast on my bench in the garden if the weather is nice is my favourite way to start the day.

My favourite way to unwind is to go to the pool and swim out 100 lengths 3x a week, getting in the water and feeling weightless is such a great feeling along with giving you a better mindset of you’ve had a tough day.
