Summer holidays, weekend festivals, barbecues in the garden no matter the weather… whatever you’re up to, you won’t want to miss a thing. That’s why a strong mobile connection is a summer must-have. So, you can stay in touch and connected when you’re out and about. Check out our connection top tips to make the most of your sunshine fun.

1.Check your coverage before you go

If you’re travelling or visiting anywhere in the UK this summer, our handy online coverage checker can show you what signal to expect before you go. You can search by postcode and view 3G, 4G and 5G coverage. Use the iD Coverage Checker now and stay one step ahead.

2. Cap your bills

Want to limit your monthly spending? No problem. With iD Bill Capping, you can set an out-of-plan spend cap, and we’ll never charge you more than that – even if you use up your allowances.

To track your usage, buy Add-ons or increase your Bill Cap, check out the handy iD Mobile app. Whatever you need to do, the app lets you do it quickly and easily.

3. Use Wi-Fi calling

When coverage isn’t great, you should still be able to make calls and send messages with Wi-Fi calling, available on selected iD handsets. Before you go, check your phone is compatible. Turn Wi-Fi calling on within your phone settings and ensure your software is up to date.

4. Keep your signal strong

Sick of bad reception when you’re on the go? Keep your battery well-charged and avoid electronic devices – as this can affect your signal. Some protective phone cases may also impact your mobile reception if they’re made of signal-blocking materials. To check if your case is blocking your signal, just remove it and see if your connection improves.

And don’t forget to try turning your phone off and on again. Yes, that old chestnut really can do the trick.

5. Stay connected on the go

If you’re traveling by train, you may have the option to access a Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi calling is also available on some trains as a part of their Wi-Fi service. Find out which national rail trains across the UK have Wi-Fi now.

6.Inclusive Roaming

If you’re off on your hols, remember your iD plan comes with Inclusive Roaming. This lets you roam like you’re at home in in 50 destinations throughout the EU, EEA and beyond. The minutes, texts, and data you use simply come out of your remaining monthly allowances. Check out our list of available countries and find out more about roaming. And don’t forget to pack your sun cream!

7. Get extra data

Don’t run out of data whilst you’re away. You never know when you’ll need it – whether it’s for checking the map or finding out what tomorrow’s weather will be like. Stay connected by buying an Add-on through your iD account or the iD Mobile app. Add-on data can be used throughout the UK and in all 50 Inclusive Roaming destinations. Plus, for an extra wedge of back-up data, look out for Data Boost on selected handsets.

If all else fails…
You can always try your SIM card in another device that’s unlocked. And, if you’re still drawing a blank, you can log a coverage fault with our Live Chat agents. We'll then check it out and do our best to get you up and running as soon as possible.

We’ve got this
Wherever you are, iD Mobile has got you covered – literally. All thanks to our fast 3G, 4G and 5G network covering 99% of the UK population.

Hi @Sandra Pisani

I’d recommend taking a look at our international/roaming charges page linked here for details on calling internationally!

Hi Tom,  I have clicked on the link several times. But just get a black page & request denied?

Hi @Sandra Pisani, that’s odd; the link is working fine for me!

Anyway, I’m adding the charges for calling Malta from the UK as of 06/07/2022 below.

Note: these charges are subject to change.

Thank you,

Rory
