Hi, I am trying to send a text message to a premium rate number but I get an error message saying that "ID can't send that message - error 0".

I have checked my account, and I have premium ticked with a cap of £10. The service I want to use is £5 and this is the first time I have tried using a premium number since joining ID in December 2023.

I used the premium service all the time when I was on Three without any issues, but fir some reason I can't send it now I'm on ID.

Ant ideas on what I can do? The premium service I want is a 5 digit short code if that makes any difference.

Many thanks, Gee

Hi @Craig Addington

Thanks for posting back on the thread.

Can you please check your settings as per @Daz_S post and let us know how you get on?

Thanks,

Nat

That is odd Craig.

The toggle (white dot) over to the left (grey coloured background) is off

The toggle to the right (blue background) is on

But make sure you go down to the bottom and click Save

As I said my wife entered one yesterday - premium on, bill cap increased (save the cap amount too). If it still doesn’t work wait 20 mins (with premium on and the cap increased) and try again

edit. Regarding the content block - after toggling adult content to off you would need to restart the phone or airplane/flight mode on and off - you need to move off the ‘block’ DNS to the ‘normal’ DNS

I’ve toggled all the services as I even had some content being blocked managed to sort that part in the end by taking off automatic network selection. But still unable to send premium sms. Very frustrating as I like to enter radio comps as well as some other business.
should the toggles in the app - services be left or right to allow them all to work correctly ? Don’t want to get caught out when going abroad to.

@Craig Addington

To the same 79100 number?

By default iD’s Manage your iD services options are all turned on, so what might be blocking the 79100 is iD’s Adult content filter, so via the app or online portal you could try toggling this off and click save.

But also you would need to check your Manage bill cap section and to make sure it is set high enough to cover the £5 plus the network access charge, so maybe set it to £10 to easily cover both charges.

Or was it another number?

As an example all of my wife’s iD services are turned off (as are mine) and she entered a radio competition earlier today, well tried to (partly my fault as I adjusted her account and she forgot I’d done so). This was a 5 digit short code.

So she enabled Premium and sent the text - failed to send (she tried a few times🙄)

So she nudged the bill cap up to £2 to cover the ‘fee’ - failed to send (again more than once and my ears started to bleed due to a high pitched shrieking)

I nudged to up to £5 just in case and it sent the text and she got the automated reply from them.

After doing so we moved the bill cap back to £0 and turned off premium.

Unable to send premium charge sms?

Hi @Geeneale,

I would advise to check if it’s a bill pay charge or a premium SMS charge.

It sounds like its a bill pay charge where it uses your bill as a payment method.

If this is the case iD Mobile doesn’t support this method.

Kash

Hi, the short code is 79100.

You type the word SWING and it should charge £5 to your phone bill and send you a code that you put into the website to gain membership access.

I have been using this method for the last 9 years and it has worked fine on the Three network. This is the first time I have tried on iD

Thanks, Gee

Hi @Geeneale

Please could you let us know the short code you’re attempting to message?

Tom

Not all shortcodes will work on the iD Mobile network, @Geeneale

Nor do iD Mobile belong to the UK SCMG (Shortcode Management Group), who manage and allocate UK shortcodes.

While Three UK may have had the necessary commercial agreement in place for the shortcode you’re trying to use, iD Mobile might not.
