Will I be able to add an eSIM to an iPhone 15 to use abroad - even though Idmobile don’t support eSIM. So phone would have physical idmobile sim and I would add an eSIM from the likes of airalo?

That should work @Wix18

Earlier this year, I got a data only eSIM to go alongside the physical SIM in my iPhone 13 while I roamed in the USA and Australia.

Everything worked nicely.

Oh okWith Idmobile ? Thanks for that. I’ve done it with my current provider , EE, and an iphone12 , just wanted to check before I switch to ID.

What makes you think doing this with iD Mobile isn’t possible @Wix18

I saw something somewhere when I’ve been researching .. but can’t find it again 😀… and it might have been an old comment . I know it isn’t logical it wouldn’t work, I  just like my I’s dotted etc before I commit.

I’d expect Apple to have tested operation of physical SIM + eSIM in a dual active scenario.

IMO there are many other things, which could be reason/s for not switching to iD Mobile.

Ah… now you’ve got me interested… any reasons I should be concerned about?

In my experience when everything is working, no-frills iD Mobile can be great value for money.

However, when something goes wrong iD Mobile can be horrendous to deal with, and sometimes can’t or won’t fix the issue. I’d speculate a lot of technical issues are escalated to Three UK behind the scenes, but lines of communication between iD and Three don’t appear to work effectively.

Great service when everything works, extremely frustrating if something goes wrong.

Ah , I see, thanks for quick response.

Perhaps it’d be worthwhile getting a PAYG iD SIM card to test the iD mobile network signal reception in the places you live, work, and socialise - before making a long term commitment.

Hi @Wix18

You’ll be able to add another network’s eSIM to your device while having a physical iD Mobile SIM card, no problem.

We do not currently sell eSIMs, therefore the usage and purchase of an eSIM would be completely separate of anything to do with iD Mobile.

Hi Tom,

Any further updates on ID Esims. People are calling out for it and the mobile world seems to be progressing further in this direction.

I believe the next Iphone may be Esim only When are ID deciding to bring everything up to date. Please move quicker. Your customers want this. Thanks

Hi @Brettsewell,

I’m sure this is being looked in and we will let customers know when we start offering them.

Kash

Unfortunately it wasn't really an answer. Can we have some timeliness please.  It shouldn't be difficult to do.

3 network are already able to do this and you piggy back off therm so why is it not already to go.

Thanks

Hi @Brettsewell

Unfortunately that’s about as much answer as we can give, we are aware this is a wanted feature for our customers, however the difficulty of it is beyond both of our understanding of it.

Keep an eye out for announcements.

Tom
