Phone has reverted to original number

I recently used an e-sim whilst on holiday in America and when I came back to the UK, I removed the e-sim. My network immediately began working fine, but my phone number changed back to the original number at the beginning of my new contract. I had used a PAC code to keep my old phone number, which was working fine until the e-sim. I am now having trouble receiving some text messages. How can I re-instate the phone number that I want to use?
