Upgrading asking for bank details?

I need to upgrade my package but when I go via my app it asks me to input my bank details - as it is an upgrade only why do you need them as you already have them? Also with the 30 day rolling sim only - is that rolling data or rolling contract length (IE not tied in to long term) thank you very much
