keeping old mobile number

Hia I’ve just joined ID I have my new phone number but want to keep my old phone number from 3 network. I have my pac code already from 3 network but when trying to enter this in ID app for keeping same number it tells me pac number is wrong, all information is correct I have double checked. Driving me nuts any ideas?
