Question

new number

I have got a new phone with me contract. I have transferred my old number over, but when I send messages, it appears as the number given by ID mobile despite changing it.

Can you help??

You could try turning off the Wi-Fi on your mobile handset, then put your device into Airplane/Aeroplane mode for at least 30 minutes.

What handset have you got and did you get it from iD Mobile?

Anyway, good luck.

Thanks, I'll try that. It's an s22 and yes, got it from id mobile.

Okay @Katy Marron, if the Aeroplane mode procedure doesn’t work, the issue might the result of starting to use your new iD S22 with the (temporary) number from iD Mobile, which will cause problems when you port your number to iD.

This happens because the Google Messages app uses “Chat features”, meaning the number linked to the device when you first use Messages gets used by Google on their servers, which handle the “Chat features” in their Messages app.

If you turn OFF “Chat features” for a couple of weeks, then the Google servers should manage to sort things out.

Otherwise, Google search “disable Messages chat features” for online help.

Good luck.

Why iD Mobile?
