Question

No Wifi connection!

I got my iPhone 13 last Friday, and my number ported over yesterday - Monday. However, I have no Wi-Fi connection away from my home! This is so frustrating as messages are not getting through as they go by text, not iMessage. I can’t see where my kids are or generally access anything away from my home!! I’ve tried the usual turning phone of and on again and it makes no difference. Please help!!

Why would you expect to have a Wi-Fi connection away from home?

Wi-Fi networks have a limited range and you’d normally need to use a different Wi-Fi network when you’re in a different location.

Have you turned on Mobile Data?

Check your iPhone’s Settings > Mobile Data section - anyway, good luck.

Mobile data is on. When I say away from home, I literally mean go into town or for a walk etc, not a different country! When I’m out of range for my home hub, surely the iD network should kick in. That’s what mobiles do!

Okay, thanks @Sam Parker.

Have you checked the theoretical network coverage in your local area using https://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Network/Coverage?

In addition, have you checked for any network problems or disruption in your area using https://www.three.co.uk/support/network_and_coverage/network_support

Finally, iD Mobile’s network partner (three UK) are working to turn OFF the three 3G network by end of 2024, which might be happening in your local area right now.

Thanks for that. Checked through all you said, all coverage ok, but still no Wi-Fi for me. Never had this problem before when I changed networks. It’s weird!

Well, I’m confused

How odd - although still confused by the “still no Wi-Fi for me” aspect.

Away from home you’d normally use mobile data not Wi-Fi, but it could be worthwhile asking iD Mobile to check your network account, by using their Live Chat service.

Anyway, good luck.

Why iD Mobile?
