Question

Replacing a damaged handset

I am on a monthly contract with ID mobile. If my handset is damaged can I simply get another second-hand one and put the SIM from my damaged handset into it and it will then work? What of the second-hand handset is locked?

From my understanding the sim can be placed in another phone, however if the phone is locked you would need to find out what network that phone was on and then contact them to ask for the phone to be unlocked PUC, you will need to give them the IMEI number found on side of original box or within the phone settings.

I have just done the same for my daughter phone was locked to Vodafone (her old network) and I filled a online form in and within a couple working days hhad a email. To say phone is unlocked

Hi @redrich

Thanks @Mharvey

Welcome to the iD Community.

Please contact our Live Chat team who are able to assist with account related support or click on this link here  https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/contact-us

They’re available between 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Unfortunately, we’re currently working on reduced staff due to COVID-19, and the team are extremely busy, so the Live Chat button may not always appear as ‘available’.

If so, it may be a matter of waiting, until an agent is available, so please be patient.

Once the agent is available the button appears blue, indicating that an agent is available.

No need to refresh the page, this will happen automatically.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks,

Pearl
