There’s an explanation online at https://www.idmobile.co.uk/cpi, and https://www.idmobile.co.uk/rpi.

Hey there @Martinwoolley, thank you for contacting us. As mentioned by @andewhite, these are due to the RPI/CPI increases that occur yearly in April, of which you can read more on the links sent above by @andewhite :)

If you have any further queries, please let us know!

Kind regards,

Tyler

  • How does the RPI affect my iD Mobile plan?

  • Your monthly line rental cost will be adjusted each April by the RPI rate published in February. Price adjustments do not affect add-ons or additional charges.
  • For 2023, the RPI rate is +13.4%.

When I purchased my 24 month phone package back in November 2022 I understood that took the total cost was a combination of the cost of the phone and the monthly call/data plan.

I accept that the monthly call/data plan will go up as I will be using the phone during the higher price period but surely the cost of the actual handset remains the same so why should that element be included in the price rise?

If only iD Mobile contracts were structured like that.

Unfortunately their handset contracts are a package of handset and plan allowances combined.

When the minimum term finishes, you will continue to pay the same amount even though you have paid for the handset.

🤔

Hmmm..   Thanks for the info.   I should have factored that into my calculations !!

Guess I will be looking around again in Nov 24.

Why iD Mobile?
