I’m travelling to NZ on Friday for 8 wks.  All my banking is online.  If I turn my mobile data off and roaming off and only connect to public Wi-Fi will I have charges?  Or is it best to get a new NZ sim for my iPhone 14 ID contract ?   Please help thinking I should have stayed with EE 😳

Turn data off, when you leave; any unanswered calls transferred to v/mail for free by THREE. Make sure you set up a V/mail pin here, so you can occasionally access messages if needed.

Re a local sim, see: https://www.uk2abroad.com/

Hi @Ann Warren,

Whilst abroad in New Zealand you can turn off roaming and connect to Wi-Fi only.

We charge around 30p per MB of data so it may be cheaper to use a local SIM if you wish to use data when out and about.

If you’re worried about charges while in NZ, just edit the bill cap setting for your iD account - set the cap to £0, and you won’t be charged anything while roaming.

You should still be able to receive text messages, which might be useful for your online banking.

Good luck @Ann Warren
