Why have I got a message "Looks like you're roaming outside of the EU"?

I recently spent a few days in France, 12th to 17th September.  It was spent at Hautmont in Northern France near the Belgian border.  So, however you look at it I was definitely in the EU.

However I have received a message:-

“Looks like you’re roaming outside of the EU. Be aware that roaming costs can be expensive, for information on your rates please visit idmobile.co.uk/roaming”

It does seem as if I have been charged a lot for one lot of data, used up my £10 top almost completely on very little data.  So what has gone wrong?  Can I get a refund of the overcharge?

@chrisisbd,

Whilst you’ve been away did you use any Ferry, ships or cruises?

Have you checked your app to monitor your data?

Yes, you’re absolutely right, the ‘almost £10’ was for data when I was on the ferry.

Never mind, not a big issue. Previously I had a ‘feature phone’ which was nearly always turned off. I needed the new phone for all the forms necessary for showing Covid status and forgot about the possible data charges on the ferry.

Thanks!

@chrisisbd,

You can view the roaming charges at the link below if you do require them.
