Hi there.  I am already an idmobile customer but I have brought a new phone from mobile.co.uk on a different plan.   The question I have is how do I keep my old number.  Do I have to cancel my old

plan?

Probably two options @Darren Horner

  • Return your “mobiles.co.uk” order in the contract cooling off period, then upgrade your existing iD contract from your iD online account.
  • Keep the new phone and do a triangle port, to move the number you want to keep to your new iD contract.

A triangle port is a bit of a faff, but you might prefer this instead of a return.
The following steps will be required to complete a triangle port:

  1. Order a PAYG SIM card from ASDA Mobile, EE, giffgaff, etc.
  2. Get a PAC for your old iD account.
  3. After getting your PAYG SIM, submit the PAC from step 2) to a PAYG service provider, which also closes the old iD account.
  4. Wait a few days and make sure your number was correctly transferred to the PAYG provider.
  5. Get a PAC from the PAYG service provider.
  6. Submit the PAC from step 5) to use with your new iD account.
