number swap.

Can anyone help. Moved to ID about 5 weeks ago swapped my number over from o2 but when I text people still showing the new number that ID gave me

If you’ve got an Android handset @Damo Dykes, I’d suggest you open the Messages app and TURN OFF “Chat features”, and leave it turned OFF.

This problem happens because Google Messages app uses RCS for messaging, and Google has incorrectly linked the temporary iD number with your Android device, if you’re using Android.

Are you on iPhone or Android?

 

If you’re on Android please try the above from @andewhite.

 

If you’re on iPhone please try the following;

 

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct. 
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with the above please retry with flight mode enabled and/or the SIM card removed.
