I recently moved to a SIM free account and was told that I can keep my old SIM card but all i get is emergency calls only do i have to put the new SIM card in

If youā€™ve just received a replacement iD SIM card @David Booth, youā€™ll need to activate the replacement SIM before you can use it.Ā 

You can activate aĀ replacement SIM from your iD account online or iD app.

We wouldnā€™t have SIM free accounts, if you purchase a device from us SIM free, itā€™d just be that, no accounts, a device purchased in full.

Have you upgraded from a device plan to a SIM only? If so you may be sent a new SIM card in the mail via Royal Mail within 3-5 working days, or need a replacement SIM card as @andewhiteĀ suggests above.
