transferred mobile number

I transferred my mobile number to ID Mobile and got sent a ID mobile SIM card with a new number on it , my account says my old number has transferred but it does have any data or signal so I am I having to use it on the ID mobile sim, this is causing problems when trying to use a hotspot  , help please
