Changing number for iMessage and FaceTime

I’m having problems changing my number in my settings back to my old number. I have tried the recommended options below and nothing worked.


Settings > Profile (top option) > Name, Phone Number, Email > (check your number is correct in there)


Another way to sometimes get the iPhone to refresh and properly be reporting the correct number is as follows:

  1. Turn off the phone, and remove your SIM card.
  2. Turn on the phone (with no SIM inserted) and leave the phone on for 4 or 5 minutes or so.
  3. Turn off the phone and re-insert the SIM.
  4. Turn on the iPhone and hopefully things will have refreshed correctly there.


I also tried to de-register the number from iMessage with Apple, but the verification code wouldn’t come through.

Have you tried to speak to Apple regarding this? They may be able to suggest the best way to fix it.

Let us know if it still does not resolve it.
