iMessage & Text Messages still not sending/received with old number.

I’ve ‘successfully’ transferred mobile number to my new phone, but it’s still showing the unregistered sim number in my Apple ID card. All text messages and IMessage either fail to send/receive under the unregistered number. But people are still managing to call me on my transferred number on the new device. It’s like both numbers are active but the I’m stuck in a loop trying to change the number in my Apple ID as I no longer have the old device. Hope this makes sense! Please help!!

Hi @Megan Targett,

I am sorry to hear this! I have a few things for you to try which might work here:

1)    Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2)    Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3)    Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct. 
4)    If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5)    Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6)    Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under “Start new conversations from:”. 

If those steps don’t work, you can always try to deregister your number from iMessage before setting it back up again. Apple has a website here which will allow you to do this without the old phone.
