I’m a bit of a dinosaur in the mobile dept. I have an old Alcatel 1 with a lebara sim. Both bought separately and sim is a no contract monthly £3.95. I want to upgrade to a better phone. If I buy something unlocked can I just put the sim from the Alcatel into the new phone and start using it right away? Sorry if this seems a silly question.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Nicola Noon, you sure can! Just make sure that the handset has 4G support because iD Mobile SIM’s won’t work in 2G phones (3G is due to be shutdown soon). Most modern phones have 4G network support but some of those cheap basic handsets sold on Amazon are 2G only devices.

If unsure, let us know what handset you're considering and we will be able to confirm if it will work on the iD Mobile network. 👍

Thank you @WelshPaul - that’s a relief. There are so many mobile phones out there I don’t know where to start. Can you advise? I want a decent camera and a phone that will let me access email, internet, socials and video calls if possible. Something more flexible than the Alcatel which is really clunky. I feel it’s time to embrace the tech! Could I get all this for £100 do you think? Thanks 😁

Hi @Nicola Noon

In this case I’d recommend something like the Nokia G21.
