switching SIM only to payg

I've seen a couple of people asking about switching (downgrading) their rolling monthly SIM plans to PAYG and being told that this wasn't possible whilst staying with ID. Both of these posts were from more than 2 years ago so I'm just wanting to see if this is still the case, as it seems ridiculous to me that a company wouldn't want to keep customers, even if they are a little less profitable. Especially as ID do have a PAYG product.

Welcome to the Community!

Unfortunately can’t convert pay monthly accounts to pay as you go.

However you can look at moving to a cheaper plan instead?

If you wish to cancel your contract you can do so via your account.

I also want to switch to PAYGO as I would like to keep my number. Furthermore - poor app, difficult navigation. Chat help - no visibility. And the list goes on regarding resolving queries… customers end-up giving-up
