I have upgraded my aim only account and can see my new charge and allowances on my I'd account. Do I need to activate and use the new SIM card I received to actually get the new allowances, it has the same number as my existing SIM?

I just called them with the same query. Apparently they always send a new sim when you upgrade, but you can still use your existing sim.
