I've just got an upgrade but I want my son to have it for Christmas as im happy with my current phone. Will the new phone work with an id pay as you go sim card as ill keep the old sim card in my current phone as I don't want to have to change my number.

That should be fine. Our phones are unlocked so using one of our Pay As You Go SIM cards inside of the new phone will work with no issues.
