I went abroad to the Netherlands, had data the first three days, called my bosses without turning on call roaming and my data immediately stopped.

Are you able to access your iD Mobile App or the My Account area online in order to check if you do in fact have data allowances left?
If you have roaming turned on within your phone, and within your ID Mobile account, then in theory things should be working fine.
Whilst in the Netherlands you’d want to be connected to KPN whilst over there to have the best coverage.
