Question

No internet/no data

I have just arrived in France and my account says roaming is on.

I use my SIM card in a router as a hotspot. In my phone it says I am connected to Bougyes network yet the internet icon on my router is not illuminated so, whilst the wifi in the house is all showing active there is no connection from the router to collect data.

The router was working fine in England on Monday night before I left.

Sadly, there is no number or email by which I may contact ID Mobile to get help.

The French networks often ‘think’ an iD SIM is a Three UK SIM, and hence your device gets the wrong network profile.

Try setting the profile for your router manually, based in the settings at:

https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/get-your-settings#manual-settings

Thank you, I don’t understand that not being a tech but I’ll try to figure it out.

Hey @dvdevns,

If you have the manual for your router or can find it online, it will show you how to access the settings page for it.

This is usually typing in an IP address on a website in most cases.

Once you’re on this page, you will find the Access Point Names (APN) page.

You can then add a new APN with the settings matching what @andewhite  provided above.

Then select this one and it will work.

For Data, the APN is a profile used to identify the settings needed for a data connection.

If you have the wrong ones, then you can be connected to a network but will have issues using data like the above.
