Cannot access Whatsapp after transferring from Vodafone

Userlevel 1

I recently moved from Vodafone to ID. At the same time, I upgraded to an iPhone 15 pro.
However, when I tried to open WhatsApp for the first time after transferring from my old phone/SIM, it keeps asking to add my number. I did follow the instructions on WhatsApp on my old phone to transfer the chats but the issues seems to be when I try to add my number into the WhatsApp app on my new phone.
I’ve tried uninstalling the app from the new phone and reinstalling it again but I just seem to be going round in circles.
I’ve also reset the network settings, switched the phone on/off etc. I’ve watched multiple videos on YouTube but nothing seems to be working!
I kept the same number when I moved from Vodafone to ID.
Has anyone else had the same issues and if so, how did you resolve the issue?

If WhatsApp is installed on your old iPhone, then backup your WhatsApp stuff to your iCloud, and remove the app from your old iPhone, @Chrissymin.

When you install WhatsApp on your new iPhone, you should be able to restore your WhatsApp backup from iCloud, onto the new iPhone.

This has worked for me, when I upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone 12, and again from iPhone 12 to iPhone 13.

Hi @Chrissymin

I’d recommend what @andewhite has posted here and on your other thread about the same subject.

Hi guys, I have tried all of the advice above. I even erased my old phone and contents and I am still getting the same issue when I try to access Whatsapp on my new phone. I think I am going to have to go back to Curry’s and see if they can help me!

Have you got a screenshot of the WhatsApp error, when you try and add your mobile number, @Chrissymin?

Before posting, you might need to ‘hide’ your mobile number if it’s shown in your screenshot.

This the first page I get when I agree to Whatsapp where it asks me to add my number. The overlay about being over 13 seems strange!. The second image is what I get every time I click next no matter how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled the App. It is very frustrating. I just keep going round and round in circles!!

This seems more of an issue with WhatsApp itself, than anything connected with iD Mobile, @Chrissymin.

It appears others with iPhone 15 handsets are experiencing this issue:

Hi @Chrissymin,

I hope that your issue is resolved.

However if you are still experiencing the issue I’m sure Whatsapp and Apple are looking into this.

Please let us know if you require further assistance.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help. The issue is now resolved!!
On the latest version, the WhatsApp terms and conditions are not visible unless you change the size of the screen, so I was not able to click ibefore I clicked “NEXT” after entering my number. 🙄

Silly me! Thanks again to everyone for their help👍🏼
