I've been trying to set up a direct debit but it's not letting me. I've tried on the app and different browsers but it still won't work.

Okay @BeckyK, the “iD Mobile app & My Account online.” forum article suggests if you can’t do it using the ‘new’ iD app, nor the ‘new’ “My iD Account” online, you’re in limbo, until iD fix these services.
