I would like to move my current phone number which is on an ID sim 24 month contract (ive had this number for years) to a new network (BT Mobile- for work purposes) but keep my ID sim active with a new number , is this possible?

Unfortunately no. If you PAC out your ID Mobile account will be closed and you will be billed for any remaining minimum term.
