Missed payment on credit file

I cancelled a contract and with that id stop the debit order so could not collect the final payment and then recorded missed payments without informing me, I would this removed from my record as not sure this entirely my fault for assuming the final payment would be taken but solely punished. Is there a way it can be resolved without going the legal route?
