Hi. I'm thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra on Idmobile.

Am I correct in thing that Idmobile use the 3 network?

Also, will the handset be unlocked? I'm thinking of putting a PAYG Sim in it when I go abroad outside of the standard roaming countries.

Thanks in advance.

Yes @KennyS, iD Mobile’s network partner is currently Three UK.
Apparently, Three UK and Vodafone are currently discussing merging their UK businesses.

OFCOM rules mean that mobile network operators cannot sell network locked mobile phones anymore, so if purchasing a handset from iD Mobile it won’t be network locked.

Good luck @KennyS.

@andewhite that’s interesting, I wasn’t aware of the talks nor the changes in restrictions as we’ve always sold unlocked handsets.

Are they wanting to merge networks or just share the masts?

I’d understood iPhones where previously sold by iD Mobile as network locked.
The OFCOM rules about handset locking came into force on 17-Dec-2021.

Yes, prior to November 2021. It’s been that long it feels like it has always been the case sorry.

Why iD Mobile?
