Question

Samsung Galaxy A12 Will not register on network

I have an iD Mobile SIM. I have a brand new unlocked Samsung Galaxy A12 bought from Amazon UK (from a seller with good reviews). The phone will not register on the 3 Network. I’ve put the SIM on my S21 and it will register.

As far as I know the phone is unlocked and looking at the network settings can be set to 2G, 3G and LTE,3G,2G. Is this a compatibility issue? I note the absence of “4G” in the network setting and LTE is a slower version of 4G if my forum research is correct.

The A12 is quoted as being compatible on the iD phone compatibility checker.

Baffled.

Any help out there?

Hey @matienzo, the A12 should definitely be compatible with our network. I’m wondering if this is a black market import that’s not designed to work on UK frequencies, but you say the seller has good reviews, so I’m not sure.

If the SIM works in your S21 then it can only be an issue with the handset itself, whether that’s hardware or software.

Have you tried performing a network reset?

  1. Go to Settings > General management > Reset
  2. Tap ’Reset network settings’
  3. Review the info then tap ‘Reset settings’
  4. If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern
  5. To confirm, review the info then tap OK

This will forget all of your Wi-Fi networks, so be sure to set these up again.

If you’re still having issues after that, I’’d recommend contacting the seller directly.

Thank you,

Rory
