Recently got a new plan through iD for a deal that wasn't available for me as an upgrade or anywhere on the iD site as it was on carphone warehouse. I have an existing iD contract, is it possible to keep that number or do I need the new one now?

It is possible to keep your number, but the process is a bit of a faff @kobold.

If you want to move the number from your old iD contract to your new iD contract, you could:

  1. Order a PAYG SIM card from ASDA Mobile, EE, giffgaff, etc.
  2. Get a PAC for your old iD account.
  3. After getting your PAYG SIM, submit the PAC from step 2) to the PAYG service provider.
  4. Wait until your number has been transferred, and works with the PAYG service provider.
  5. Get a PAC from the PAYG service provider.
  6. Submit the PAC from step 5) to use with your new iD account.

This process is sometimes called a triangle port.

Sounds like an unfortunate situation @hugorfn
On the flip-side, I’ve ported my number to iD Mobile twice, and each time the transfer went well and completed on-time.

Hi @hugorfn,

Welcome to the Community!

Sounds like it may be a file exchange delay which can take some time.

If you would like us to take a look into it, please let us know.

Already open a formal complain .

Hi @hugorfn

Okay, in that case we’d recommend keeping in contact with the complaints team, however it will be important to note a complaint unfortunately won’t make any port go ahead quicker.

Why iD Mobile?
