Moto G31 wrongly listed as 5G ready, it does NOT support it

As per title, I bought off the iD shop a Motorola Moto G31 because it was listed as a 5G supporting phone. My bad for not having done any further research on the subject, the device DOES NOT support 5G. This is really annoying

As I have upgraded my phone only because I need 5G due to my high-demands mobile job, what are my options now? Can I just return it to a Currys? Will that refund me straight away or get me a voucher towards a new purchase?

You can return any iD Mobile purchase to any Currys store. Please do this within 14 days, bringing proof of purchase with you.

Okay @Sam Mtzzo, within your cooling off period you can return to any Currys, according to the online “How do I cancel or return my order?” community FAQ.

You’ll get a refund - don’t think iD do vouchers.

Good luck.

Thanks both.

The shop’s page for the G31 should be updated btw.

What’s really bizarre is iD Mobile DO NOT include the Moto G31 on their approved handset list - makes you wonder why iD even sell this item?

The Motorola G31 is indeed a 4G handset and doesn’t have any 5G support. It does incorrectly state on the iD Mobile website that it is 5G Ready.

Not every device is on our approved list and the device should work with 3G and 4G.

@Nikhil P  could you check this as it may need updating on the website.

Okay @Mohammed, but the approved handsets online page starts by stating: “If your device is not on the list, it means your ability to use iD services may be affected.”

What happens when a customer is using a non-approved handset and asks iD for help?

Hey @Sam Mtzzo

Really so for the error - our online team are working on removing the mention of ‘5G Ready’ from the tech spec of the device.

Hi @andewhite - I can confirm that the phone has been through the relevant testing and has been approved on iD. The page does need updating, and we’ll be working on doing so in the coming weeks. I’ll keep you updated! 😎

Thanks,

Nikhil

oh @andewhite - as for non-approved devices, we’ll still look to support as much as we can. There are certain instances were features such as Data Roaming or or MMS’ may not work as the APN settings are not supported by the network. Unfortunately, in instances like this there is little we can do.
