Hello I have been charged £45 for 4mb of roaming data while I was still inside of the uk today as I travelled from Scotland to Belfast and I would like to know what you would do with this as a company that I’m with as I shouldn’t have been charged with this as I was still in the UK

You don’t have to be outside of the UK to roam on another network. You should always turn off roaming on your device until you actually intend on roaming to prevent such charges from being incurred.

What’s likely happened in your case is that your phone connected to a ship, ferry or cruise liners network. Ferry and cruise operators often use their own phone network that’s operated via satellite. Connecting to a satellite network is much more expensive than connecting to a land-operated network.

It costs £9.60 per MB which would explain the £45 charge you’re seeing.

Hi @Josh Cherry,

Welcome to the Community!

As @WelshPaul advised, the charges are due to using data whilst on a ferry, ship or cruise.

If this is the case the charges have been applied correctly.
