Contacts unable to call/text me since porting number


Since porting my number across to ID, I’ve had several of my contacts say they can no longer call or text me with the number that is saved in their phone. It’s as if it’s blocked for them. I can still call and send texts, and am also receiving them from others, it seems to be a random selection of contacts that this is happening to. Any idea what is going on?

Sometimes it can take a few hours to update.

Have you tried resetting network settings?

Can you just check, for the numbers who can no longer call you, what error do they hear? You said it’s as if it’s blocked but that doesn’t specify the exact error.

Does it just make a beep sound and hang up? or does it say “number you have called is not recognised” etc?

What networks are these contacts on that can’t reach you and what networks are the contacts on that can reach you?

Hi Mohammed,

This has been after a few days/weeks of me porting my number. It appears to be contacts that are with EE (who I was with previously), but not ALL EE contacts. It does not allow them to send me text messages and I’m not sure on the call side, they say it’s like my number has been cut off but I don’t know exactly what they hear.

I also don’t know how many contacts it is affecting, 3 people have mentioned it so far.

Hi Kash, I'm having the same issue with my wife's number which she has recently ported to Lycamobile at the same time that I ported to IdMobile.  She is the only contact who cannot text me since I ported my number to idMobile

Are you still having issues with this?

 

It may be worth trying to see if you know anyone else on LycaMobile to see if they can contact you, or your Wife testing if they can be contacted by anyone else on iD Mobile.

Hi Tom

I have access to another Lyca SIM and my wife was able to receive and send texts to this number.  I have tried to send a text to my IdMobile number from this SIM and that didn't arrive either.

Not sure why I should have an issue receiving texts from Lycamobile numbers, any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

My wife is having wider SMS issues with Lycamobile so is switching provider

Okay, this sounds like it could be a LycaMobile issue, however should you find issues still occur outside of LycaMobile (and similar networks that are or rely on EE for signal) please let us know.

Appears to have been a Lycamobile issue as no problems since she switched providers.
