You haven't been hacked…

A google search shows that this number belongs to a company called “UK Power Networks. No idea if they are legit, a scam or just some third party company offering a legit service.

https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/power-cut/text-updates?noAddressFound=true

  • We will not send you marketing messages, only notifications about power cuts in your area.
  • This service is free, however, your network may charge you if you're outside of the UK. Standard text fees will apply for messages that you send to us.
  • If you are signed up to our Priority Services Register to receive extra support during a power cut, we can text you 24 hours a day to make you aware.

What is odd though is that I can find no mention of any premium text charges or subscriptions on their website? Yet when I reverse search 80876 it returns a result indicating that this is a premium rate number. However, while Vodafone say it’s a premium rate number, there is no charge for using it:

Hey @Wolf

These numbers are managed by the Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA) - https://psauthority.org.uk/

I’d recommend having a look and searching the number there. It should show the contact details of the company so you can get in touch to get them to stop the services and/or seek a refund if you did not sign up.

Although, as @andewhite  mentioned, texting STOP to the number should work (but will incur a charge to send).

STOP ALL in some instances.
