Porting my current number six months into a contract (a different contract)

Hi, I’m wondering if it’s possible to port my existing and in use number to a new contract in six months time? I know this can be read and understood in a few ways so let me try to explain below:

I am an ID customer with a contract ending in six months time. Lets call this ‘contract A’

I want to change my phone as I’m a little fed up with what I have at the moment.

I’ve seen a suitable deal that I want to take out, also with ID mobile. I’ll call this ‘contract B’

My plan is to take out contract B with it’s new handset, but still use my sim from contract A. In six months time, when contract A comes to an end, I’d like to port my number to contract B. I’m aware I’ll have to port to another network first before porting back to ID.

Is this possible or is there a time limit from when the new contract starts to be able to port?

@Kapondray You can port a number in at anytime. However you are unable to port an iD number to another iD number directly. You would have to port contract A number to another network PAYG SIM (Asda & Three are popular) and then once ported get another PAC code from the new network to port that number to contract B. It’s called a triangle/double port.

Thanks, yes I plan to do exactly as you say with the double port. Thanks for the confirmation that there’s no time limit for the port.
