In my account I can only upgrade to a new handset

Hey @TheRealTomTom,  If your minimum contract period has ended, you can also ‘Change your plan’ to a SIM only plan.  Here’s some more information on changing your plan:  Thanks, Nikhil   When I do that it changes it to £50 as the only option Perhaps there are some unresolved bugs & issues in the ‘new’ iD app and ‘new’ “My iD Account” online services, @TheRealTomTom.  Have you tried speaking to the iD sales team about upgrading your iD plan to SIM only option? Contact iD telephone sales on 020 7139 1397 or 0800 049 0250.   In addition, the iD Live Chat team can change your plan. I phoned someone who was having trouble with their system. Put me on hold then hung up. I could not be bothered to phone back.

I had set a bill cap, that's how I found out. I had a message that I'd hit my bill cap. I didn't know why, but it appears to be the connection difference between the UK and France.

Roaming & International charges

So I was on a ferry to France and didn't put it on air plane mode. I was charged up to my data cap for internet use. I thought I had roaming for France, but I'm guessing moving from the UK to France crossed an international waters section were I'm not covered. Can anyone confirm this?

The same happens with me  It took about 2/3 weeks and it finally just sync’d itself and processed.

mfa and otp

Okay @TheRealTomTom, while you’re waiting for the tech team you could try forcing your device to use bog-standard SMS for messaging. If you’re using an iPhone turn iMessage OFF. It’s more complicated for an Android device, but the Google “How to turn chat features off” article should help.     Thanks, I’m on a Pixel 6 Pro

mfa and otp

Magically fixed!  All mfa codes now arriving via sms!?   How long between the switch was it? I got my new handset last Friday and put the PAC request in, so it happened on Monday and while I am getting most of everything else, I am still not getting the mfa & otp SMS messages, but I am getting standard SMS Okay @TheRealTomTom, I recommend contacting iD Mobile via their Live Chat service. Ask the iD agent to get the iD tech team to verify everything's OK with your account, following your number port. To chat with a real person use the chat service between 9am - 8pm weekdays, and after connecting type “talk to a person” to avoid the 24/7 bot.   Magically fixed!  All mfa codes now arriving via sms!?   How long between the switch was it? I'm also having this issue. Just moved from Vodafone and have never had this issue before. It appears to be a fairly common problem people are reporting.

Not receiving SMS from automated services

Okay thanks @TheRealTomTom - I’m able to receive these security authorisation codes from WhatsApp, gov.uk, Nectar, my banks, et cetera. I don’t have any of these organisations as contacts, but their SMS messages appear under the organisation’s name in my messages app - not sure where a short code comes into play. One thing well worth a try is: Put your phone in Airplane Mode Turn off your phone. Remove the SIM for at least 15 minutes Pop the SIM in your phone and power on Turn off Airplane Mode. Some banks allow you to use their mobile banking app to complete the security authorisation. Anyway good luck. Just tried this and nothing. It’s also a credit card that does not have the authenticator app or card reader

Not receiving SMS from automated services

What automated services aren’t working? So I was trying to use my CC and the stage where they send the authentication code that I enter to confirm I am making the process, never arrived. Same with WhatsApp the other day when moving the account to the new handset (but they also have a phone call option, so I didn’t think anything of it).

Thanks, yes it took a while to come across (I made a call on one handset and it was my number but when called it went to the other). It appears to now be the very specific setting at their end for short codes to be allowed
