May 2021 edition

Welcome back to the iD Community news and updates blog, and a warm welcome if you’re new here!

So, what’s new?

Meet the ‘Subscribe’ button:

Is there a particular area on the Community that you’re interested in, or a field where you can share your expertise? Then check out the ‘Subscribe’ button on the right-hand side, towards the top-middle of any community category page.

We’ve given it a new look and made it stand out a little more, so you can always stay one step ahead of the posts that interest you the most. Whenever new content is posted in that particular area, you’ll get an alert so you’re in the know. You can even subscribe to multiple categories. Nice!

Support Categories:

The iD Community isn’t all about phones, networks, and troubleshooting, but it’s great that you can access that support whenever you need it. We’ve changed the name of our Help & Support area to ‘Support Categories’, within these categories you can find exactly the kind of support you’re after.

No matter what page you are on, you can easily access them, by using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. It’s quick, easy, and means you don’t have to manually scroll through posts to find the perfect answer. We’ve even added a few extra categories to help narrow your search.

If you are ever on the homepage, you will also see this area as you scroll down, simply click into the category that relates to your problem and gain access to a ton of knowledge to help you resolve it.

Homepage re-design

You may have noticed at the centre of our homepage that we’ve got some exciting news about 5G. It’s finally here on iD Mobile, and currently being rolled out across the country. We’re pretty excited about it! We’ve also given the homepage a little refurb to make it simpler, cleaner-looking and easier to navigate. We hope you like it.

As we mentioned before, we’ve changed our Help & Support area to Support Categories, and you’ll find them at the top. But you’ll also see the separate Community area to its left, featuring everything from blogs to competitions, social posts, to recently active topics. Get involved in the conversation!

The April Recap

With another 1,500 members joining us over the past month, our humble Community is growing all the time. And it’s been another big month on the iD Community in general – over 450 new posts, and plenty of helpful answers given. We’d like to thank everyone our fantastic iD members and superheroes for getting stuck in and helping out where you can. You guys make the iD Community even stronger.

And once again, a big welcome to all newcomers over the past month! If you’re still finding your feet around here, our guide to using the iD Community can help you get acclimatised pretty quickly.

The most popular Community categories over the past month were…

Ask A Question

Android

iOS

Ask a Question: We love to see so many of you active on here, chatting to one another and helping with any queries that crop up on the Community. If you’ve posted a question, well done for reaching out, and if you’ve responded to questions, thank you for adopting the Community spirit!

The Ask a Question category is great for posting a question that doesn’t necessarily relate to any of the other categories – think of it as a ‘miscellaneous’ category. If you’ve got a question and it relates to any of our Help & Support categories, be it Pay as You Go, Bill Capping, International & Roaming or any other category, the best way to have your question answered quickly is to put it in the perfect place on the Community.

Want to post a question or topic but not sure how? Check out this month’s guide to posting a topic on the iD Community:

Android: Lots of activity within the Android category over the past month. A variety of topics have been discussed, but among the most popular was Wi-Fi calling.

Wi-Fi calling allows you to continue your phone conversation clearly, even in places where phone signal isn’t all that great. Your Wi-Fi network makes up for the lack of phone signal, so you don’t need to go through the classic ‘I can’t hear you, you’re breaking up’ exchange.

All the latest Android phones are able to make calls using Wi-Fi and mobile data, so you can keep in touch with friends and family without any issues. You’ll need your version of Android software to be fully up to date, but once it is, you’re good to go. To learn more on the ins and outs of Wi-Fi calling, take a look at our Wi-Fi calling FAQ

iOS: We’re still seeing quite a few iD Members posting topics related to unlocking iPhones, both in order to use an iD Mobile SIM and other networks.

If you’re still looking to unlock your iPhone, take a look at our guide to unlocking your phone. If you have a phone you wish to use with iD Mobile but it’s locked to another network, you’ll need to get it unlocked by them first. You’ll find all the links and information you need to get your iPhone unlocked right there.
