I would like to know why my phone bill is £18 higher than normal despite there being no added charges for phone calls etc?

Hello @Jaycee125,

Have you tried viewing the bill as a breakdown is usually found on all of them.

You can scroll further down the pages to see more detailed usage also.

Did you change Direct Debit dates or your plan recently?

I can view the whole breakdown of the bill - there is nothing to indicate the extra charge. I did set up a direct debit last month immediatley after I’d paid Septembers bill. Why would that make a difference?

Hi @Jaycee125,

And has there been a tariff change recently too?

Hello there @Jaycee125

If you’ve recently opted to change the date the bill is taken, then it’s very likely that the bill you have received will be for a longer period than that of usual.

If you look at the dates from : to my hunch is that you’ll see it’s from anywhere between a 5 to 8 week period the bill is for.

You won’t be paying for anything more than you should, it simply will be a pro-rata bill for the dates between when you had last paid up to, up until the date going forward to which your bills with start from on a monthly basis.

Your next bill and all subsequent ones will be the same day every month for a single monthly period.  Unless you changed the date again that is.

I haven't changed anything - all I have done is to set up a direct debit to be taken on the 9th of each month, whereas previously I was paying the bill on or around it's due date which was the 16th,  so in effect I'm paying it 7 days before payment is due!

Hi @Jaycee125,

Although you may have moved the date closer, it would still create an increased amount for the first month, but this will be deducted from the last month that you pay as part of prorated billing.
