April CPI price rise

Took out my contract in December 2024, fully aware of the April price rises. My contract when I took it out was £29.99, from April it will now be £32.05. This is not the 3.9% that it should increase, it's over 6%. Obviously the amount in real money terms is hardly anything, however its more about principle. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Your monthly plan will be adjusted each April by the CPI rate published in February (+3.9% fixed rate). Price adjustments do not affect add-ons or additional charges.

For 2025, the CPI rate (+3.9% fixed rate) is 6.9%.

Yes, completely missed the "+" 😂

To be fair, it's quite sneaky wording and should be more obvious. Also didn't realise ofcom have changed rules and banned inflation linked mid contract price rises for new customers. 1 month too late for me 😂
