Difference in prices between web and app

Today is upgrade day. I'd looked online yesterday via the website as the app wouldn't allow me to sign in and saw that the Google Pixel 9 was £31.99 per month with 10gb data and £39 upfront. Great, I thought, I'll wait til tomorrow and get this deal. So imagine my surprise when I looked on the app and the same deal was suddenly £35.99 per month, with the same data and upfront cost, yet when I checked on the website, it's still £31.99.

Why is it still seemingly ok for existing customers to be charged more than new ones? I've been passed from pillar to post on the live chat, but nobody could tell me why there is such a price difference. Anyone in the community have an answer?

I've rang the sales team today and taken the upgrade. Got the pixel 9 at the web price and not the app price, bit still no explanation as to why existing customers are potentially being charged more. I urge everyone to check the website without logging in (IE, as a guest) and compare the prices first.

Maybe Martin Lewis would be interested in this as well

Just a thought

Hey there @AdamLander, we’re glad to hear you’ve upgraded.

New customer deals and current customer deals are consistently changing, therefore, it can depend on the time that you decide to change deals/upgrade. Sometimes, a current customer deal will be better than a new customer deal, and vice-versa.

We'd like to hope that you were able to take out a great deal when joining us, and this was likely better than some current customers deals at that time.

Thank you,

Tyler
