So basically, my contract ends in 10 days, and I will then have an option to upgrade. However I don't wish to upgrade until the new Samsung is released in a few months.
Is this possible to wait before upgrading and if so will my monthly payments decrease considering my phone is now paid for?

You can of course wait to upgrade until you’re happy to, however, your plan will remain on the same plan and for the same cost each month until you upgrade.
