Upgrade date on app

Matt Collins

Why is the upgrade date on the app in US format?

For example, my upgrade date is in June this year but the app shows it as 6/3/25, so I assumed it's actually in March.

This is confusing and not very helpful at all

Hey there, I’ve asked my back office team, and they’ve said:

“It depends on the OS version it can either be in Settings > System > "Languages & input" or it's Settings -> System -> "Date and time".

Are you able to try the above and let us know how you get on?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi there @Matt Collins

It might actually be the fact that you can upgrade with 2 months left on your current contract.

But if you use the app and go to plan and contract details it’ll give you your start date and contract duration - maybe check to see if this related to the date you posted or the 2 months I suggested?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I can’t upgrade until June - when I view more details or click “add to calendar” it diarises it for June this year, so the date is definitely in the US format.

Also, when I view the bills information, all the dates there are in US format too - so “your next bill so far” currently says 12/29/24 - 1/28/25.

Either ID’s app has been coded to use US dates automatically, or something else is incompatible with android phones. I suspect the former!

That is odd indeed Matt. If you click on the billing tab and look at your next bill so far bit does the DD date also show in the US format?

I take it the phone is set to UK date format?

I’ve just checked mine and mine is all okay. Android here too although only Android version 12.

(I know there’s a bug with downloading the bills - as in the date of the bill is 1 month out, but yours is the first I’ve heard of in the US date format)

Hi,

Yes, all dates on the app show in US format regardless of what area I’m on.

my android phone is in the UK and all other dates on apps are fine.

Hello @Matt Collins

Thanks for getting in touch.

Sorry to hear this is happening.

This is also the first time I am coming across this so I would like to check a few things.

  • Are there any updates outstanding on the handset/app?
  • Are you using a VPN on the device?
  • Have you tried removing and then reinstalling the app?

Thanks,

Nat

Out of interest Matt, if you look at your account using the online method instead, does this also show the dates in the wrong format?

https://my.idmobile.co.uk/login

(it works exactly like the app but without any potential bugs with the app)

Also is your app version 6.5.0?

Hi,

The web version is fine - it shows the date in UK format.

And the app is up to date. I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday to check as per Nat’s message.

Hi @Matt Collins

Thank you for trying the steps provided, just to confirm as I am not clear from your last reply, has this resolved the issue?

If not, do you have an active VPN on the device? Are there any other apps showing the date in US format?

Thanks,

Nat

Hi Nat,

It isn’t fixed. I’m not using a VPN, and all other apps are showing UK date format.

Thank you for that @Matt Collins.

Just to check also, is this via both the iD Mobile app, and also via the iD Mobile website when you login?

If you also login to the iD Mobile website (not the app), via another device, such as a laptop etc, does this still happen then?

Also, what phone do you have please?

Thanks,

Tyler

Tyler,

No, the website is fine. Please check my previous responses where I already confirmed this.
I have a pixel 7a.

So that’s pointing the blame at some setting on the phone. It must be in the MM/DD/YY format and not DD/MM/YY

If what @Tyler suggests doesn’t work look here instead → Settings → Date and time → Use Locale default

edit or make sure the language is set to UK:

System → Languages → System Language

Okay! Now fixed.

For anyone else having this issue, although my pixel was defaulting to UK date and time, there is another area under system in Languages as Tyler suggested. It’s called System Languages. Upon entering that, I found both English (United States) and English (United Kingdom), and for some reason the US version was the preferred option.

I swapped them around, restarted my phone and un/reinstalled the app, and it is now in the right format finally.

Thanks all for your help!
