Hi, i’ve ordered an upgrade (from 30 day plan to 2 year) and the phone arrived yesterday. However, i have no idea what the procedure is now.  There is no documentation on the website about this.
Also, can i delay the activation of the new phone? It will be a christmas present so ideally i’d want to wait a few weeks if possible.

If it was just an upgrade then I’m assuming a new SIM wasn’t also issued.

So with that in mind @adibranch iD’s system doesn’t actually care if you continue with the old phone using the original SIM or if you use the new phone - iD just provide a mobile facility (with or without their phone).

So yes I’d say things will keep plodding along as they are, then after Santa arrives you move the SIM to the new phone and go from there.

(then spend the whole of Christmas day copying the content from old phone to the new phone)

Hey there @adibranch, welcome to Community!

Your new upgrade contract begins from the order/dispatch date. Therefore, your new contract would have automatically began already, and billing and your plan will reflect that.

Your next bill may likely be pro-rata:

You cannot freeze a plan I’m afraid, it begins from the order date and billing for the new plan begins from then.

Thank you,

Tyler

Hi @adibranch

If you’ve made an upgrade the old phone (and SIM) would still work as normal.

Thanks. We’ll keep using the old one for a few weeks then.

👍

And after Santa gets released having been stuck up your chimney/boiler flue or possibly your letter box (unless you have the magic door?), after transferring the content to the new phone, sign out of any apps on the old phone before signing into them on the new phone and if you’re getting rid of the old one factory reset it to remove all of your content/data.
