Hi.

I would like to upgrade my tariff to the advertised sim only upgrade deal for £8 per month. After I’ve chosen the deal it takes me to a payment page where I need to enter my card details. My normal monthly payment is taken by direct debit, so why do I need to enter my card details for payment? Surely my direct debit payment would just be adjusted for the new amount of £8.

Thanks in advance.

Neil.

Hello @NeilM73,

It sounds like you’re looking at new contract deals if you’re being asked to setup a new Direct Debit.

I know that card details are entered for a security check which is normal, but for a new Direct Debit this usually points to a new contract.

To confirm, the steps for upgrading are:

Log into the iD app/account

Click My Account

Scroll down to Upgrade or Check if you can upgrade

Once done, you’ll see handset options, but scroll down till you see SIM Only

Select this, then the plan you want and complete the order.

If you are still asked for card details, then this will just be for a security check.

If you are asked for a new Direct Debit please let us know, as this should not be requested.

(Though, if you do not have an active Direct Debit, you’d be asked to set one up before you complete the upgrade eligibilty check).

Thanks Mohammed.

I upgraded by using the method you described. :thumbsup_tone1:
